this may be a stupid question but here goes.............is there any better way to store .avi files that wont take up space on my computer than putting them onto CD-Rs?........also if not, is there any faster way to download movies than K++? (they take at least an hour for a good quality movie).......thanks as always
dvdr?
just kidding
Cdr is the cheapest way to do it im afraid.
You say it takes at least an hour to download a good quality movie from K++, What size are the movies that you download? & what speed is your connection?
I'd love to download a 700mb movie at that speed.
I find k++ is very fast for well known/recent movies.
DC++ & IRC are good alternatives for downloading movies fast aswell.
the size is usually over 700 MB (your standard DVD rip)..........and i have a cable connection (about 1500K at best)
if you wanna max out your speed, i can only recommend bittorrent.
other than that, get onto some ftps or usenet, but usenet will cost you $15/month, and it pretty hard to use, comparitively.
As for the storage, i'd recommend getting a dvd burner. 6 700mb films on a $1 dvd-r blank is great, and it's only 30 minutes to burn it. especially good for films that are 2+ cds.
but yeah, try out bittorrent, it's generally faster than anything i've seen.
oh, and to make sure you're getting the best out of your connection, don't forget to download 2 or 3 things at a time :D
try mirc (irc ) if u want speed and content takes an hour or so to grasp but u will get stuff fast and free (unlike newsgroups where u gotta pay) and the fiilm are far superior versions svcds etc i tried bittorent and spent a day getting 18% of a certain 2.3gb file went on irc and got the file complete in 8 hours or so
i find irc is the only place i can max my d/l d/l just ONE file from one source as someone else here said irc is like gourmet food after the fast food that is kazaa
little kid who talks to hear his own voice
yeah, i gotta say that irc is pretty good. get a good xdcc listing script, and you're away.
I only really use it for grabbing the odd album here and there though, i wouldn't grab a gig and a half's worth of film off it. it's another weapon in your arsenal though.
