I would'nt trust any company in bed with Brilliant after what they tried to pull. I'm sure they'll figure out get
quote:
Over the coming months Altnet plans to invite selected users to join the Altnet network, at which point we'll send you a clearly worded offer that explains exactly what commitments we'll make, what we'll install on your computer, and what your rewards will be. If you choose not to join - no problem - absolutely nothing will take place on your machine. If you choose to join, the Altnet control panel will allow you to set exactly how you'd like your computer power and bandwidth to be used. Altnet puts you in control.
Since when Brilliant/Altnet tells people what it installs on people's computers???

Since its inception almost 30 years ago, the internet has been transformed from a primitive device for sharing thoughts and ideas, into a massive network where people pay to connect and read advertisements they don't want, while calling each other "asshats".
Not a chance, I don't even know what they put on my computer!!!

"I just don't see why everyone is jumping all over Brilliant for this idea. After all, it is Kazaa that had to agree to this: to put the line in their EULA, and include [Brilliant's] software in with theirs," Kit Kimes pointed out. "Kazaa should be taking a big hit for this--after all, Arthur Andersen is taking a big hit for the Enron disaster, even though all it did was act dumb and hide evidence. Enron was the villain. Why is Kazaa getting off scot-free?"
Kazaa might not have got the spanking Brilliant got in the media, but I think they fared worst in this whole deal. They are the ones losing users to Kazalite.

"BERMEISTER ALSO defended the company's licensing and distribution method, saying it was similar to methods used by big names such as AOL, Microsoft, and RealNetworks."
Even though the man does have a point, it was Brilliant who got caught with its hands in the cookie jar. The defense of "everyone else also does is too" is like Clinton saying he was not the only US President who had an affair while in office(which is probably true) . Sure everyone else does it, but Brilliant got caught, so there is no escaping public condemnation and loss confidence of the consumers.
At least that's what i think...

Jeeze, this poll was really decided by a landslide if you ask me, people today don't take crap with spyware. This just goes to show how hard it will for future file-sharing programs to make money off their hard-ass users, KEEP ON FIGHTIN' THE SYSTEM!!!

If I ever meet anyone from Brilliant digital I'll take them out, buy them dinner, shower them with praise... And drop-kick the crap out of 'em in the nearest alley, steal their wallet and carve "no spyware" into their foreheads.
Anyone from BD? I'm free next Wednesday...
Why waste money on dinner....?
