Have you seen all the shorts together in sequence?
What do you think of the storyline as a prequel?
I really liked the animation, and the music. I especially liked the fact that altho the Wachowski bros wrote most of it, it was also written by other directors. I included the information below so that you can research the works of these other top notch directors.
Detective Story has a Cowboy Bebop feel to it, and Matriculated reminded me of Aeon Flux.

Animatrix, The
After breaking domestic and international box-office and DVD sales records, garnering four Academy Awards(R) and setting the standard by which all futuristic action films are measured, "The Matrix" is poised to break new ground with the highly-anticipated release of Warner Home Video and Village Roadshow Pictures' "The Animatrix."
An unprecedented fusion of CG-animation and Japanese anime, "The Animatrix" is a collection of nine original short films conceived by the Wachowski Brothers, the creators of "The Matrix" trilogy. Inspired by the visionary action and innovative storytelling that power the trilogy, this spectacularly visual short film series delves deeper into the mind-bending world of "The Matrix" and the characters who inhabit it. Created in the anime style pioneered by Japanese animation artists and helmed by world-renowned anime directors, "The Animatrix" also features the voices of actors Keanu Reeves (Neo) and Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity) in two of the shorts.
One complete episode from "The Animatrix," "The Final Flight of the Osiris," will accompany the worldwide release of the supernatural thriller "Dreamcatcher" when it debuts in theaters on March 21. Written by Larry and Andy Wachowski, this nine-minute computer-generated short serves as an explosive prelude to "The Matrix Reloaded."
"The Animatrix" debuts worldwide on DVD and videocassette on June 3, between the release of the next two films in "The Matrix" trilogy - "The Matrix Reloaded," which opens theatrically on May 15, followed by "The Matrix Revolutions," which debuts in theaters in November. "The Animatrix" will be available on DVD for $24.98 SRP/$19.95 MAP and on VHS for $19.98 SRP/$13.95 MAP from Warner Home Video (WHV).
"The Animatrix" features an eclectic techno soundtrack supervised by renowned DJ/producer/remixer Jason Bentley with some of today's hottest electronica artists such as Juno Reactor, Death in Vegas, Meat Beat Manifesto and others. The original score for the project is provided by Don Davis, who crafted the music for all three films in "The Matrix" trilogy.
"The Animatrix" features short films directed by some of the world's premier anime filmmakers, including:
Yoshiaki Kawajiri (writer/director of the anime classics "Ninja Scroll" and "Vampire Hunter D")
Shinchiro Watanabe (writer/director of the anime feature "Cowboy Bebop")
Koji Morimoto (animation supervisor of the seminal anime film "Akira")
Mahiro Maeda (director of the sci-fi anime series "Blue Submarine No. 6")
Takeshi Koike (lead animator on several of director Yoshiaki Kawajiri's films including "Wicked City")
Peter Chung (creator and director of the popular MTV series "Aeon Flux")
Andy Jones (animation director for the stunning CG film "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within")
This "ultimate dream team" of anime collaborators provides "The Animatrix" with the creative power to take viewers on a cerebral journey of cutting-edge animation, mind-blowing visuals and pulse-pounding music.

One might think so but if not, in words of Rickie Ricardo: "Luuuuucy, you got a lot explanin to do!!!" , lol.Originally posted by Theinfamousone

Since its inception almost 30 years ago, the internet has been transformed from a primitive device for sharing thoughts and ideas, into a massive network where people pay to connect and read advertisements they don't want, while calling each other "asshats".
BTW: Who all thinks that Neo was still in the Matrix at the end?
Yah kinda "matrix within the matrix" trippy. Maybe the former constructs from the Architect werent really destroyed after all.
Maybe he knew Neo would go back into the Matrix, and told him the wrong door.

WARNING....SPOILER BELOW.
IT waz just a funky ass ending...and the whole movie really put forth some strong ideas...that "The One" wasn't really special and that it was written into the matrix(the system) as a control mechanism. I totaly didn't see that comming. I goes against the first movie something savage. I wonder how morpheus will react to this news about the prophesy being fake. He took is so seriously and devoted his reputation....his life to it. And that bit at the end where he stoped the sentinals, that relly made me think.
Then again, I remember that in the 1st matrix Neo was told that he is not the one, which in turn made him try harder. Maybe telling him, what they said in the 2nd Matrix, will be neccessary for the completion of the movie. Either way, the final Matrix wil have some splainin' to do.
I also thought that the last scene may have still been in the matrix. But I'm not sure. Gonna see it again in the cinema in an hour, so will pay extra attention to the story. :-)
I think I heard that the copy of the Full animatrix DVD is out _ i saw it on Kazaa _ but i want to make sure its worth it ? anyone know if thier is such a legit copy out ?
Sounds like the one I started this thread over . . . . . unless you literally mean the original vob files.
i dont know about the VOB files, but there is a crapload of bots sharing it on irc, you can get it via BT, and DC has more sources than you can shake a stick at. if i remeber right, its a 699 mb avi encoded with xvid, but many copies have a sound issue; the audio becomes out of sync during "program". there is a fix for this though; go to sharereactor.com and look for the animatrix and along with it will be a prog to fix it.
