When I go to empty the recycle bin. It looks like it's full but there doesn't appear to be anything in it. And when I hit the "empty" is says this. "Are you sure you want to delete 'Windows'?" And of course I can't. Anyone know what's up?

I too have run across this many times before. Clicking "yes" does no harm, so do not worry about it. I've really only seen it though on Win2k and Win98. Haven't seen it yet on XP, so maybe they corrected the problem.

it often happens on FAT32 installs of XP
if you see it every time you empty the bin, run chkdisk (it will run on reboot)
that fixes it
Yeah, I'm on XP. That's just really weird.Originally posted by PiRaNeTuS

it happened to me more often on ME than XP. but has happend on XP a couple of times. but i didn't get a "do you want to delete windows." my recycle bin icon said there was something in it but really nothing appeared when i entered my recycle bin.
Xp does this for some reason.
I get told the bin has stuff i sure as hell didn't put there, and i get problems deleting .avi files and empty bloody folders!
I just drop to a dos shell and delete stuff manually, and if the rexycle bin won't "empty" i tend to make a shotcut to something on the desktop, put the shortcut in the bin and empty it then. problem solved.
I had this numerous times on WinMe, but never so far on XP.........
Theinfamousone , I got the message too ,because window washer make this problem .Just uncheck ===empty recycle bean===option on window washer.
I was just going to post the samething..it is a known bug in Window Washer.Originally posted by GATORIAN

I have had that message too. A couple of times. I'm running XP on NTFS. I have never used WindowsWasher, so I know that's not it. It doesn't delete"Windows" if you click yes anyway. Sometimes when I have clicked yes, it will not clear the recycle bin. When I try to empty the recycle bin again, it asks me if I want to delete Windows again. When I reboot, it clears up.:mellowOriginally posted by notbob
