we can choose to let things make us unhappy, angry, bitter, sad, etc. or choose to not let them effect us negatively and instead just go "oh well, never mind" and carry on, without getting so wrapped up in the negativity.

Life's all about up's and down's. All your life's opportunities are never there on the same day. Tomorrow is a new day, you never know what could happen to go in your favour.

2 years ago I lost my house, my girlfriend, my job, my car and my dad was in hospital on life-support having just collapsed (they almost lost him!!). It all happened within 2 weeks and I felt as low as I think I ever have... but I held on because I knew tomorrow was a new day and that no matter what, things can improve. Life kicks you in the teeth sometimes, but if you roll with the punches, control the negativity and know that some day things will get better, you'll be alright. It's a stupid-ass cliche.. but there's truth in it... time is a healer.. it's just realising it and hanging on that's the hardest part.

    Peace!!
    Good post Method!

These might sound redundant at times but I do think it helps to remind us sometimes and sometimes we got to hear things put in such a way that we can relate.
May you always run with the wind at your back and good friends by your side.

Thanx for the compliments - they are appreciated. I wonder sometimes if anyone is getting anything out these posts (besides myself) or even reading them. I check each day to see how many people "view" this thread and because there is an average of 50-100 views a day I am encouraged to continue this and when I get a reply like yours - all the better - You guys make me feel this is all worthwhile.
May you always run with the wind at your back and good friends by your side.

Thanx sweetie !!.... Your post is exactly why I e-mailed Sundays Daily Thought to my mother's house and posted it from there (250 miles away). I spent the weekend there building a gazebo for her and was wondering how I would be able to stay on schedule with this.

    Todays Daily Thought For 6/24/03

    Today's thought is:
We have within us a limitless supply of new beginnings.
    --Joan Fitzgerald

We can start our day over any time we choose. If we wake up crabby,
on the "wrong side of the bed," we are not doomed to a day of gloom.
Each minute can be a new reality for us. We can start a new day with
just an ounce of willingness. There are days when we get stuck in the
mud of depression. Part of us wants to begin again and another part
seems to like to dig around in our problems. We might even feel like
just staying stuck in the dark side of today.
Willingness to try another way is the start. We can take a second to
choose to look at our gray day in a more positive way.

Today let me start over when I find myself glued to my troubles and
    negativity.
May you always run with the wind at your back and good friends by your side.

    Todays Daily Thought For 6/25/03

    Today's thought is:
The type of hugging I recommend is the bear hug. Use both arms, face
your partner and perform a full embrace.
    --David Bresler

We all need physical contact. And this contact does more than put us in
touch with other people; it reminds us of our human need to love as
    well as to be loved.

Some of us may have a sense of aloneness, regardless of how many or
few people surround us. If we live alone, it can be most difficult to get
our daily ration of hugging and touching. Perhaps we need to consider
buying a pet. A bird, a cat, a dog will offer affection all the time. All
they require is a good, loving home. Or perhaps we need to think about
the contact we have with others. Our expressions of love bring us the
unexpected bonus of physical well being.

I need to love and be loved. I will share my caring nature more freely
    with other living creatures
May you always run with the wind at your back and good friends by your side.

i am always in need of a hug and if i want one i just ask.
    good stuff.
especially the previous thought of the day, where each minute can be a new reality and a new start.
i have to remind myself that i choose how my day will be.
and you're right, although silly, sometimes we choose to wallow in a downright depressing mood.
so i must get off this computer and get outside.
    tis a beautiful day!
my neighbor gave me some beautiful flowers to plant from her garden and i came on to see what they needed as for sun and such.
    so i'm off.
    thanks CH! ;)

    Todays Daily Thought For 6/26/03

    Fighting For Life

If we do not fight for life, we will never count the coup of living well.

Fighting for life is not through violence. Today, we are asked to fight for life through the way of the peaceful warrior. The way to claim our personal rights of living well is by walking through life as peacemakers, turning away from malice, revenge, bitterness, envy, hatred, and negativity. When these traits are not present, we can naturally celebrate our lives with joy.
The soldier of bygone days stood at the edge of his circle and faced the threatening forces outside. Today, the peaceful warrior still stands at the edge of his or her circle, turning with courage to face the enemy within. We fight for life when we are willing to confront, and to heal, our personal issues. We are then counting the victory coup on the internal negative forces that can keep us from living well.
May you always run with the wind at your back and good friends by your side.

    Todays Daily Thought For 6/27/03

    Today's thought is:
I'm not sorry for anyone's being poor; I'm only sorry when they have no
    work.
    - Helena Morley

Human beings have been described as animals with language, animals
with laughter, tool-using animals, animals that play. But we're
preeminently animals that work. Small children's play is imitation of
the work they see adults doing. Fortunate adults put the same energy
and devotion into their work as children do into their play.

Work - although we sometimes curse it - is a blessing. Work, the work
that is a real expression of the spirit, focuses our energy and allows us
to be whole. Maybe our real work isn't our job; maybe we feel whole
when we're carpentering or cooking or writing, and we think of these as
"hobbies" or "just stuff I do." If we could bring to our jobs the
concentration and pride with which we turn a chair leg or roll up sticky
buns, we would exalt our working days.

The jobs we do, the work for which we're paid, are deeply important to
most of us. When we find work we can love, and do it as well as we are
able, we've earned a victory in life.

I will try to be able to say of my work today, "I would do this even if I
    weren't paid for it."
May you always run with the wind at your back and good friends by your side.

That's a great thought CHorse. I first began to consider myself successful when I got the point where I was doing the same stuff at work all day for pay that I was doing at home all night voluntarily for fun.
