MPEG 2 not decoding in TMPGEnc.

I've captured some of our home videos to MPEG 2 (believe it or not this has nothing to do with anything illegal). And I'm trying to use the merge and cut feature in TMPGEnc, but of course it gives me a divide by 0 error or something. Turns out that Windows Media Player barely plays them. It doesn't give me any errors, it just gets very jittery for about the first 10 seconds, and then acts like it's trying to seek through the movie the whole time effectively crashing everything.

TMPGEnc can't even reencode the video at all because it gives me the error that it needs an MPEG2 decoder. I've installed the MPEG2 decoder from the Kazaalite codec bundle or whatever. Anyone know of any better ones?

May I ask what input device you are using? I use a Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe, and the format it puts out is a little whack. I had to get cleaner xl to fix them up.

I'm using an ATI All in Wonder 8500DV. I'm using composite video input.

Thanks Piranteus, I've seen that before and just forgot about it. Thanks a lot, I installed the decoder they had and it's working like a charm.
