    Arrow Make Shareaza the best.

    Fundamental Question

ED2K works by using a credit system, right! Well I can see a flaw in the thinking behind making a multi network client(Shareaza Beta) when it comes to supporting other credit based systems!

On a credit network, the best client will be the client that can give a big amount for uploading so as to receive downloads, easy formula. Well to make Shareaza better than eMule, eDonkey originals would mean that you would have to cut uploads to g1, g2, bittorrent. It's clear that this is a fundamental flaw and users shouldn't expect shareaza to be the choice unless it starts allows cutting edge options to favour downloads over uploading data of credit networks. Yes leeching is the way to push Shareaza ahead or the future will be a very weak g2 come ed2k client.

The only benefit currently is that the other network support will bring in top downloads to the g2 community but this can be done better by running a separate ed2k client at full speed, then later share in G2.

btw, must emulers only share the files they are getting too! With Shareaza giving support, we are making emulers have a much better network. This has to stop as it will just kill off shareaza in the long run.

    -------------------

Here are some ideas that might work for putting the ball in Shareaza's court..

    * In >Settings>Uploads>Queues>eDonkey Core> set "partial download files only" Why, This might share only the files you're getting not your complete show case, finished ones.

    * Use security rules to leech off world edonkeys users by gaining credits from friends using same setup.

    1) Block all by setting default rule "DENY"
    2) Make “Accept” rules for each ed2k server. You also need a special rule ("0.0.0.0" mask "255.255.255.255" "Accept") to allow server returns like searches.
    3) Create IP single/ranges using the IP/subnet technique for your friends ISP's or single friend IP’s.
    4) Create in a lessor portion IP ranges for emulers that your want to leech off. The idea is that you score credit off friends but gain by getting off world emulers. The formula is that there will be a bigger chance that friends will get your uploads as the ratios are better for friends.
    5) Get your friends to aim at the same edonkey server
    6) You could trial firewall blocking emulers uploading.

    * Experiment using the, >Settings>Upload>UserAgentFilter> to block emulers that aren't using your emule client ID. You could try hacking your own ShareazaMule ID that your firends would use too.

Block out the client strings that don’t match your own. Then you gain emule credits from friends using ed2k sharing but also download off world emulers that get blocked uploading.

Lets keep Shareaza the ultimate client, not just a bad emule alternative !!!

Have you got any good ideas???

....before you snap my head off, this isn't my post (taken from another website). I just want to see what this community thinks about it :)

Copying somone else's troll is still trolling.

    >ED2K works by using a credit system
Only emule uses a credit system though all clients on the ed2k network are
subject to it when they download from an emule.

    >Well to make Shareaza better than eMule, eDonkey originals would mean
    >that you would have to cut uploads to g1, g2, bittorrent.
Your logic is very flawed. If shareaza only uploaded to ed2k it
would be just another ed2k client so it would be equal to emule
at best. If nobody uploads to g2mp then nobody gets any download
    from it and it's dead.

    >leeching is the way to push Shareaza ahead
That won't be allowed to happen.

    >btw, must emulers only share the files they are getting too!
and how do you know that, hmmm?
It's hard to say since a lot of people have file browsing turned
off. Based on my observations at least 50% of emule users have
    desirable files shared.

    >With Shareaza giving support, we are making emulers have a much better network.
No, the ed2k network has the content and the users. Shareaza is bring nothing
    new to the party.

well the edonkey credit system to the best of my knowledge works by assigning each user a number from 1-10 1 being the lowest and 10 the highest. So if you upload alot of stuff it wouldnt take you long to amass a credit rating of ten regardless of how much you upload to other networks.

You have to realise also that youre argument can be turned on its head by ed2k users who can justifiably argue that shareaza users will be giving so much of their bandwidth to G2, G1 and bittorent that they will not be contributing their fair share to the ed2k network.

I dont think talk of "leeching" from the ed2k network is likely to be very constructive. Many ed2k users are already skeptical about what shareaza can bring to the ed2k network, and it would be a snap to alter the ed2k clients to block sharing with shareaza.

edonkey users didnt go to G2 cap in hand begging for shareaza to use their network. ed2k is already one of the biggest and most succesful p2p networks, with a number of users and range of files which dwarfs G2. If shareaza users want continued ed2k support, they better show they are prepared to contribute something to the network.

    That point is key.

no, not by you hunter, you do a very good job as moderator. Moderating in an unobtrusive and balanced way.

But the number of cases of vanishing posts and threads has been growing steadily lately.

I don't know, but I seen two direct mentions of leeching (the word was used) and it was in support of said ideal. And of course there were numrous passive mentions which translate to leeching.

Sounds like a completely underhanded idea to me.

Yes, sounds like an excellent way to get shareaza blocked for ed2k.

More than just that one thread? Which im not aware of any other threads or posts "vanishing." Which i hope that nothing like that is going on but it cant hurt to look around anyways.

Do you know of any specific posts or threads which "vanished" which ill try to find out what happen to them unless they were warez or porn or something like that.

You can pm me if you dont want to post it on the forum.

LOL... yea this is a good post...
I think the only reason shareaza will stay connected to ed2k is if shareaza users contribute something to the network... cause ed2k is already ver succesfull w/out shareaza and it has nothing to lose if they block shareaza...
