Please Help with my PC Problem!!!

My computer crash this morning for no apparent reason, well it would not boot and I was forced to re-install Windows. I installed windows on the same partition but renamed the WINDOWS to WINDOWS2 in an attempt to keep my programs and files. It appears that my Program Files folder is intact but I cannot access my old michael folder in Document and Settings, which contains tons of stuff. It keep saying access denied. My question is there any way to get into the folder?

    Any help would be great!

Did you, by any chance, have any password-protection on that folder?

And what version of Windows are you using?

well, documents and settings...hmm you must have xp or 2000

log in as administrator, and change the permissions so that you can access it, or do what you wish with the files as administrator.

if that doesn't work (i'm not sure it will) then i'm sure that there are tools out there to forcefully change file permissions.

    Changing ntfs permissions:

if you have xp home, you'll need to go into safe mode to access the security tab.

btw, if you're login was protected, then so is the folder...

    Found out something

Ok, there are different permission groups and I have been trying to give full control to them all but I cannot do this for a group called CREATOR. Anybody know why this is and is there a way of doing it, as I think this may be the problem. Could I just delete that permission group, it does give me the option to do so.

    bye,
