Crash??
Windows has never crashed!!

Welcome dude... welcome to the XP World, enjoy your stay with us.
Good to hear it sock.
And here I am still using Win98SE.
What a lazy bastard I am.
You can't triple stamp a double stamp.
Yea, I know what you mean. Getting rid of the Me was one best things I did.
Edit: Haven't gone XP myself since win 2k is doing a pretty good job for now.

Since its inception almost 30 years ago, the internet has been transformed from a primitive device for sharing thoughts and ideas, into a massive network where people pay to connect and read advertisements they don't want, while calling each other "asshats".
lol... i never had many problems with windows me. the worst probelm i ever had was when zonealarm messed up one of my files and made it so my computer would not shut down...
it would sit on the last screen before auto power down and just look stupid.
but winme never crashed for me (before or after the zonealarm incident). like, once a month. xp crashes way more for me :-\

XP was on the computer that i recently bought. I never used ME, so i don't know about the crashing problems you mentioned, but i do agree with you that XP "rules!!!"Originally posted by Sockfulloflove

Now, can someone help me get out of windows me? My pc sucks though.
It's ok to visit here, but don't wander around. Someone might be suspicious and take a pot shot at you with a machine gun.
Yep, I used ME for about 2 weeks, hated it like none other, switched to XP, it's ran like a dream. Hopefully Longhorn will be an equal improvement.
People on my "cool list" in no particular order.
Krell, Phalkon30, Ken17625, Triniti, Kyle06, Potato429, wessman, Winphuk, Woflie, MoonMan, All the mods, CCSDUDE, Lamourlady, Nasrules, Alannah777, vipp, foreverboard, NDGAARONDI, metale, isus, Endersgame21, Reg0232, notbob, Janett999, and uhh you!
It depends of more than the os, as you found out with zonealarm.Originally posted by isus

Shoddily written programs, bad drivers etc all contribute to make an unstable pc.
2k/xp seem to be more stable than the 9x/me variations though.
Man, you're lucky! I had Windows Me for about 15 months (don't ask how I managed!) and in that time I had to format and clean install FOUR TIMES and I got a BSOD literally 4-6 times a day.Originally posted by isus

On the other hand, since I installed XP nearly 10 months ago, I've seen TWO BSODs, had no reason to format and haven't had it freeze at all other than mentioned above. It's simply a dream OS after the crappiness of Me!
I seems like a conspiracy to me. Windows 98 crashed alot as it was but ME was pure crap. I think MS did this on purpose to make the upcomming XP look even better. Kind of like the oil companies raising gas prices from 1.29 per Gal. to 2.17. Everyone says what the hell 2.17. So the oil companies back off the prices 1.79 per Gal. and everyone feels good for not having to pay 2.17 anymore. Forgetting that three months ago we were paying only 1.29 anyways.
Does that make sense or am I rambling again?:mellow
Man you pay $1.79 a gallon?? We pay nearly £4 a gallon, that's about $5.75!!!Originally posted by DwarfBaby

I've used ME with no problems. I admit I didn't upgrade as such from 98E, I just did a clean install, but there was no apparent problems.
I suppose the upgrade thing from 98, which ME was intended for, was a bad idea, as from people's testimonials caused no end of problems. But like I said, a clean install was fine for me.
Upgrade from 95 to ME was even cleaner....had little to no problems and a bit of tweaking made it stay solid.Originally posted by Induna

As you may have noticed in the past...I defended ME many times....
ME is good... 95 is classic... 3.1 was a drag... 2k kicks ass.... XP is fairly good...bit to flashy for my taste a times...
