    tar file

    A recent dl turned out to be a tar file. I haven't come across these before, so this is a first. I did a google search, found several results, checked some of them out, yet I still feel in the dark about how to open this type of file. Greatly appreciate any help that anyone can give. Thanx in advance.

    winrar, power archviver and even winzip will open it and or extract it for you.
