    favorite animated film

The "favorite music video" thread, & tonight's personal viewing of the film "Spirited Away" (an actually purchased DVD!!) has inspired me to inquire about everyone's favorite animation.

So what's your favorite animated film?

Vampire Hunter D (the original one)

    Wasn't a good story...animation sucked....kinda bland.

Yet I can't help but feel a bit of déjà vu for that flick...so weird yet 'homely'.

Chobits (not a movie...so it's kinda out) also got me thinking. Under all that comedy and fan service the message got me thinking. Are we really gonna be finding love in humanoid computers that do everything for us years from now? Kinda creepy....

You already strike a nerve more deeply than I can tell you here.

There are some things, that just touch you emotionally in a way that nothing else does, and this, Spirited Away (Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi) is one of them. (2 cd set no subs )

I am also very fond of Jin-Roh (The Wolf Brigade) ! ! ( 2 cd set with subs)

Cowboy Bebop the Movie. (2 cd set with in En)

Also, Vampire hunter D, and Bloodlust are good.

I like the Ghibli Studio work, like Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind, Kikis' Delivery Service, and My Neighbor Totoro, My Neighbors the Yamadas, Princess Mononoke , Only Yesterday , and the very excellent - Whisper of the Heart. I really really like that movie. Grave of The Fireflies is very sadning : (

I still like the Ghost in the Shell, and Akira too.

    thanks krell

I will look into finding those that you mentioned. Vampire Hunter D seems like a must have.

I must add "Princess Mononoke" to my list. Ashitaka wasn't always so cool while posting in this forum, but that film (Mononoke) is briliiant.

I have recently moved in with my girlfriend & her five year old son, Lukas. He is spoiled by granmommy & has tons of vids, most lame. I've bought him "The Dark Crystal", "Secret of Nimb", "The Hobbit", & "The Muppet Movie" so far. All great movies "for kids of all ages". "Monsters inc" is also one we both like.

edit: yes I have the double disc version of "spirited". I also saw it on the big screen. I look forward to watching the 2nd disc tomorrow.

Theres 2 just so you know...

    Vampire Hunter D
    Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust

The new one has better animation...better everything with a diffrent story line.

The original is a must....it's just so odd ball you can't help but love it. And bloodlust has a nice air about it.

I just ripped the first one in OGM format....so PM me if you wanna copy...I'll find some way of getting it to ya.

    Best animated film?

Believe it or not, Toy Story. Never before had I seen anything like it. And the comedy stretched from the childish, to things only adults could catch with a quick enough eye.

All star voice cast by the way. It fit nicely.

Yea, i tend to lean toward "anime", because of the art work , and the story lines. Quiet different from american animation, but there getting there.
