I currently have LimeWire Pro 4.2.3 and am wondering if there is a huge difference between 4.2.3 and 4.8? Thanks.

I am using 4.6.0. Beware of the version 4.8.0 that comes bundled with internet security feature. It's an IE toolbar spyware app.

I seriously don't know what you're talking about - I've been using LimeWire Pro 4.80 for a while, and I don't have any IE bar. If you're getting the basic version, make sure you grab it from www.limewire.com - it shouldn't have any spyware with it.

As for differences, not too many jump to mind. I believe it was mostly just bug and security fixes.

What I am talking about is the 4.8.0 "PRO" version that was on Bittorrent and probably still is. It came bundled with a toolbar that the readme file inclosed said was necessary for limewire to fucntion. It was in fact a IE toolbar (spyware). I am not talking about the regular (basic) version available from limewire.com. The pro version available from Limewire.com too and is $18.88. It was brought up in another thread (below) so I know I am not the only one to see it. I mentioned it as a caution to others that stumbled across this version on BT. I don't care wtf version you use or what you think of limewire, it was there and it is spyware! Smoke that bud!

Well maybe it is possible that it has the spyware in it. Maybe they did download it from another site.

That is definitely true, but if you want the pro version ur just going to have to go fish or pay. I do not dispute what ductape is saying. You will only get the restricted basic version from limewire.com for free though.

I have found the new pro version 4.8.0 and it's clean of spyware and it didn't cost $18.88

heh i have limewire pro :) been using it awhile
i do have another version with add on for credence to filter out baddies.

i am going to be honest basic or pro version work the same to me.
