Question which one fits better?? - July 5th, 2002, 09:47 PM

I use a 56k modem to connect, and leave the computer downloading at night, when I'm sleeping.

Which file-sharing program can download, one by one, or two by two, a list of MP3 files, and search/resume for new connections, if that previous connection is lost?

Thanks,

Feizi

I do the same thing. AudioGalaxy used to be perfect for that. At the moment I find Kazaa Lite best, but I still have problems when leaving it over night. I find that a lot of the tracks I queued end up saying 'more sources needed' even though there are users with these tracks online. I thought Kazaa Lite had an auto resume feature but it does't seem to work as good as AG did.

Kazaa Lite is a pretty good program. If you use speed up 1.2 with it, makes it work a little better.

You can get it in this yahoo group if you can't find it anywhere else.

Those programs are great! I downloaded MorpheusX only to find I already had a version of 'Speed up' in my program folders under Kazaa Lite which I had never noticed before. The only problem is that if you have a lot of tracks queued, these programs seem to attempt to connect all queued files. But I suppose thats not too much of a problem unless 10 very slow simutaneous transfers download much slower than when downloading 2 or 3 files at a time

You can also try FastTrack Accelerator 1.2

Actually FastTrack Accelerator & Speed Up are the same program, which is based on MorpheusX.

Either of them (FastTrack Accelerator & Speed Up) are the better choice as even AYB, the developer of MorpheusX would tell you, as his is no longer being updated...

I like MorpheusX because you can adjust the time and delay the searches, this will help not to freeze up your computer..........
do the others have this option also?

yeah Speed up seems to have that option too (it has Refreshdelay and Itemdelay - not quite sure what Itemdelay is). I was surprised it was already on my computer. It must come bundled with Kazaa Lite 1.7.1

Time delay or refresh delay, will research the files at the time you tell it to...........
Item delay, is how much time between reseaching...........
Lets see..........Ex....
Time delay at 15 min, Item at 45 sec.
So every 15 min it will researh the files for more sources,
at 45 sec apart, this is so it dosent search all files at the sametime, slowing down your connection and FastTrack.

that makes sense. Cheers. Now all I have to do is get a program that stops KazaaLite disconnecting in the middle of the night....

Download MaxMem, leave it at its default settings and it will do the rest for you. I use it for WinMx myself. It will work along with any program.
