You would be suprised how many people still play doom online.
Best thing to do would be to check gaming forums, or irc. A server for doom can be run off of a 486dx with 8 megs of ram and a 56.6 K connection. I will do some checking for you, and see if i can find anything *EDIT* ok, i found a large community, that has a very large forum, he is the forum for online play. http://www.doomworld.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?forumid=5 *EDIT* again, http://www.doomworld.com/vb/showthre...threadid=14068 And look for a program called "doom connector" ____________________________ Successfully Traded With: Tom, Dick, Harry, Jane, John, Bob, Billy, Bubba, Fileztradingzf0rl1fe, s00perdoopershareman, seeder55,000,000: and everyone else you have never heard of, trust, or give a shit about. |

Its amazing, on quake 3, RTCW, JKII Jedi Outcast, and Unreal Tournament, I can max the settings, max the resolution, and still get upwards of 80 frames a second, but when I try doom 95, it chops along at less than 30
btw, want to see your framerate, take screenshots, capture movies from your games? try fraps, its great http://www.fraps.com/ |

I honestly don't use it for that, I just like to see framerate, it tells me if something is wrong, and is great for benchmarking tweaks |

i play quake3 most these days, i have been playing it for over 4 years now, and have loved it ever since. yeah i agree, there wouldn't be any of the high end shooters that eat all of your cpu power (unreal tournament 2k3), if it wasnt for wolfenstein 3d, or doom. i remember playing those games on our old packard bell back in 1995. it was a blast, ah the memories.
still some old games are fun to play, even though the new generation of kids, never got to experience a snes when it came out, or nes for a matter of fact. No I will not fix your computer. you know you should really give linux a try. you know the funny thing about the l2cache on the old pentium 2 really didnt give me the power to do the multimedia stuff that a guy like me wants to do. |
