it stopped working a little while back, i fixed it.

phalkon, if you need a new edition, just send the html for the news mod page to cpugeniusmv@hotSPAMmail.com or whatever.

if it worked before, you should just need to replace the exe with this one.

this will probably be the final release. I have now integrated a system for automatically compensating for changes in the code of the news mod page. Unless there is a SIGNIFICANT redesign of it, it should continue to work behind all firewalls and proxy servers, as well as ad blockers such as proxomitron.

Well, it detects new mail just fine, but sat "checking" for over 15 minutes, I think the prox is messing it up again

well, i did a lot of recoding...i probably just forgot to put in the thing that tells that label to go back to "waiting..." lol, i'll look at it later.

I'm curious how this is supposed to work/look, when you get the time, think you could explain it to me?

Here's how it works:

Every one (or however many you specify) minutes, it downloads the source code for the news admin page, it then looks for the phrase "view news waiting to go live" and then it takes the number after that, compares it to the number of stories it has seen during that session. if it is greater, it says "hey! news" if it is less than or the same, then it doesn't. (only problem with that is that if someone posts a news story and publishes a different one in the same minute, then it won't pick up the new one. but i figure that is unlikely)

the 'comments' portion program downloads the source of the page that you get when you click on the news button at the top of the page, it then by the same magic used in the news getting function grabs all the news stories/urls/# of comments and separates those into 3 listboxes. if the number changes from the last known value of comments, it says "hey! comment!" (if there is a new news story posted in the time between checks, no comments will be reported because all the numbers will appear to have changed, and would notify you of all 50 stories on that page.)

the entire process takes only a few seconds, and you have to be watching to see the "checking..." flash by.
