Freenet 0.5.1 Released, P2P Network Stabilizing
from the gonna-get-scary dept. posted by CmdrTaco on Tuesday March 18, @09:31 (internet) http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/03/18/1354244 mids writes "With version 0.5.1, [0]Freenet isn't only the most secure & anonymous P2P network, but also getting pretty fast! Reliable downloading of files as large as 700MB from Freenet at average download rates as high as 100k/sec on a broadband internet connection are sighted (which compares quite favorably to more conventional P2P applications)." This release really makes freenet a viable alternative to other p2p networks. Now if more users would just jump on board and be permanate/static nodes and share some decent disc space (give at least 1gb - come on hd space is cheap!)

the indexing requires a key, by far the way to obtain it is such intolerable that i wouldnt use it again.
i mean sure it may work for you but back when this came out way long ago it required a set number of keys and no searching was allowed. well good luck nice idea but not good for me hehe. |

Wow, although that is good to hear safety and anonymousity isn't really an issue for me. I personally think that the chances of me or anybody else that visits zeropaid getting caught are very very small. But this is good news because now we know that if safety does become a problem there is a network out there that is a viable option.
