Question Spyware on RealOne and Quicktime - March 17th, 2003, 07:52 AM

Hope you all can help.

When I run RealOne player and QuickTime, both programs add themselves to my startup protocol. R1 adds a file called TKBell.exe that loads up on startup.

When I go into Startup Cop to dismantle it, it doesn's load automatically. Until I use R1, then the process starts all over again. Same with QT.

A few questions: PC Pitstop identifies these startup files as spyware. Adaware and Spybot do not. What is the purpose of the autoloaders? What do they do? And how do I dismantle these pesky little tools in the programs themselves?

I pride myself on keeping spyware/adware off my computer (save for the dummy cydoor file on K-lite). I also try to load up the minimum amount of programs when I boot up.

Anybody familiar with all this? Respond. Thanks much.:fire
