DC my arse - January 19th, 2003, 02:34 PM

Soo... I can't cap my upload speed eh? I just installed the thing simply to share - I am out of hard disk space so I'm not looking ot be one of those people that uploads at 5k/sec and downloads at 100. I asked someone if it was possible to cap and they said that will get you banned.

I connected to the "USA KingSize" hub and I had 100 gigs more than the top sharer there. It's a shame they don't want what I've got. If I don't cap my upload speed at about 35k/sec I will get busted by my ISP and be cut off.

Dude, you program, right?

Delve into networking? How packects get sent out, ect ect ect?

You may be able to whip up a small app that limits throughput (how many packets get sent out within a given period of time) on whichever port(s) you choose.

That would solve yer problem, donno if anyone has bothered to work one up.

Since it would be outside of said program it would seem like it's your top speed, then again....it could be used for some bastard leech shit.....

I work mostly on the business end of things - Databases and whatnot :)

ya know, I worked 80 freakin hours last week. 80 hours! think I got time to learn about TCP subclassing and all that jazz!?

hehe thanks for the suggestion tho - I'll just look around for something someone already wrote (the lazy way out)

SQL? Stuff along those lines?

I've been reading up on database/product managing crap for some time now.

Bah....it's tedious as hell, but it'll be worth it in the end. I won't need to pay someone to set up my site nor my home network that keeps all my records.

Going into to PC repair (home business ;) ).

So that should be fun....

Good luck with finding such a program, I think I may go looking as well.

*Puts on some classic Kanno/Debussy and heads off to drudge the net for such a program*

Ciao

BCDC++ - January 19th, 2003, 04:22 PM

There is a modified version of DC++ that allows you to cap upload speeds.

Do a search for it here on ZP. I can't remember the url ofhand, I got it and am using it now.

peace
