PornMaster, how old is your hard drive? What is the model? Are you sure it's a Western Digital? Is there anything else during installation that seems to glitch or mess up?
Here is what I have come across so far for your problem. I suspected it was just a piece of hardware that Linux didn't support, and I may be right. Go here to verify if your hard drive is supported. Since I did not know the model I just did a quick search for anything Western Digital and found that all of the drives on the list are "Known Hardware." Which means it was verified to work with Linux by someone in the community. I will continue my investigation though.. I have one more question (in this post anyway).. Does it hang when you just GET to the detecting hard drive part? Or is it when you are setting partitions to put Linux on? |

Do you by any chance have a graphics card installed?

the F1 screen. But thanks for all the replys!! but it didnt work right for my computer (monitor/videocard, i guess i'm stuck a windows man now *sigh*) but when i tryed to uninstall it, it messed up my harddrive and i had to format the whole thing, so i did that deleted all the partitions and everything, but once i got windows back installed agian, my harddrive tells me i only have a 30gig'er but i really have a 40gig'er, could the windows partition just not be fully exented for the whole drive? or does formatting ruin your hard drive and do that? http://www.freewebs.com/yaddayadda/tuxjolt.gifhttp://www.freewebs.com/yaddayadda/tuxsorting.gifhttp://www.freewebs.com/yaddayadda/tuxwaddle.gif |

Did you set up your own partition? Or did you just let fdisk snag the whole drives capacity? Try reformatting before you go putting stuff on your HD and getting it all cozy again. Format and start over making sure you set it up correctly.
BTW, when I asked if you had a graphics card I was talking about an external one (IE PCI/AGP) try removing it before you start installing Linux. Like I've said in other threads....Linux HATES graphic cards.....fucking ATi's cards drove me nuts on my first Linux install. So if you give it another go remove your video card and use the motherboards crappy on board video (lmfao not like yer gonna be playing and graphic intensive games on Linux). It should install just fine then... www.dakota-fanning.org www.elle-fanning.net |
