Bittorrent Download Issue - August 9th, 2009, 01:20 PM

Hello,

I recently installed my new internet 60 Mbit connection (from UPC) with the Cisco EPC 3000 modem and Linksys Router BEFSR41 (Latest firmware).

I forwarded the ports 14545-16000 for bit torrent, i am using 14545, but my download speed doesn't go higher then 40 kb\s.

With my previous ASDL connection from XS4ALL, i had download speed of 1.2 mb's per second and that was with an 8 Mbit ISDN line.

I went to speedtest.net to check out my speed and everything seemed fine, if I don't test africa :P.

Rig
I am using a 1 Gigabit network card of Nvidia with the following rig:
Intel Quadcore E9450 proccesor.
Asus Striker II motherboard
Nvidia 9800GX2
3 GB Ram
Western Digital 300 GB HDD (10.000 RPM)

Software
Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit

Ethernet Information & Hardware
Provider: UPC Netherlands
Internet Package: 60 Mbit Upstream/6 Mbit downstream
Modem: Cisco EPC 3000 modem
Router: Linksys Router BEFSR41 (ports open en latest firmware)

----------------Speedtest results--------------------
Some speedtest result from speedtest.net
The further I go, the less speed I have, but then again i am seeding/pearing from several torrents.

So does anyone know how to improve my download speed via bit torrent? I am using uTorrent and my normal download speed is fine.

Thanks in advance,
Nahlea

The fact that it is a Linksys router may have something to do with it. I had one of those, and Linksys router firmware is worse than a pile of shit. I assume you've tried multiple torrents and have had the same results?

Here's Britney Spears' private jet... The gulf stream 3 doesn't even have a remote control for its surround sound DVD system. Still think downloading music for free isn't a big deal?

I tried high Swarm torrents with high seeds, both with router as without.

The results are the same.

I will tell you one thing. You have tons of shit running in the background that you do not need.

You don't need three seperate tool bars running. Unless you are running a reader turn off al the Acrobat and Adobe bullshit.
Dump the Java updater.
You have several unknown winsock connections running.
One or two is about al that should be going.
Turn of the damn gaming url that is running to.

Your best bet is to send that txt of running products to trend and have one of ther people check it.
You may have a few bugs and hijackers buried in there.
Thw mos processest I have running when not downloading is about 25.

You have way, way to much shit running that you don't need to have going on your start up.

I am not saying this will improve your speeds but it could help some.
