Upgading firmware DVD player with hack..

Hi

I recently bought the "Pioneer DV-410V-K" DVD player and i know that it has multi region ability, problem is im in canada and the player has been locked to play only region 1 discs.

Now I've heard of DVD firmware hacks that unlock the player but Im really scared to try this as i dont want to kill my new player.

I have found a site with the firmware hack files for my player, and was wondering if someone here knows about this hack stuff and can give me a simple step by step on what firmware version to DL, how to burn it, and finally how to install it on my player without killing it; as the instructions on the site were a bit confusing.
