Converting to VC-1 / MPEG2 / H.264 ? - February 1st, 2009, 12:08 PM

I have a blu-ray player, the Samsung P-1500. It's not the best player in the world but I got it as a gift. It apparently can play blank media in VC-1 / MPEG2 / H.264 format. I am completely noob when it comes to video conversion.

I have uhh home videos of dandelions and my aunt margene making tea in XviD and DivX.. where's a good place to start in trying to convert to "VC-1 / MPEG2 / H.264"?

(By the way, Samsung's firmware allows for XviD and divx to UK versions but not U.S.) typical.

Wait, for once we have an actual request for software, as in not spam? Holly shit the world is about to end!

If you want to convert video use MediaCoder, its free opensource and fairly easy to use.

SW, you may consider the latest version of ConvertX to DVD software. It does also provide an option to choose in which video standard you'd like your conversion (PAL or NTSC). according to your info, your player will only play media with PAL standard which is actually the better of the two. If you ever need to play it in NTSC, you can always convert it to NTSC at some point in time. Cheers. :)

Thanks for your help, I haven't had time yet to crack this nut open. I believe however living in the U.S. my player must be NTSC?

Thanks,
