Domain Name Registrar Recommendations - January 17th, 2009, 01:35 AM

Just thought I'd ask about domain name registars. Since some of the info out there is about a year or so old, was wondering if much has changed since 2007. What are generally the better ones out there?

I have a website and at first I used Frewebs for my domain service which was expensive-I switched to GoDaddy and the service and price is much better-I have two domain names through them

I still use Frewebs (now called Webs) For the hosting of my site.

Ah. I was hearing about cheapnames as well as the CNET story about 'free-speech friendly registrars' which had a number of them that was rather attractive. Haven't heard of Webs myself though. :)

I use godaddy almost exclusively, mostly because they are cheap and you can call and someone actually answers the phone.

I recently had a horrible experience with eNom, they suck.

I'd stick with godaddy honestly. From what I've found they have the best combination of price and service. There are a couple places that are slightly cheaper, but godaddy has better service than both them and some of the more expensive places.

Zentek-International.com :icon_thum

Offshore hosting/domain registaring with very low levels of restrictions. You can enter false WHOIS info, and they don't care =) so when someone trys to find the owner of a site, they get fake names/addresses.

I use Godaddy personally.

Have had one domain with them for about 2 years now; no issues.

Pricing was good, and they're reputable.
