As you noticed, non-members cannot post in stories. Why? We feel that non-members contribute to most of the negative postings that appear in the news comments section. Sure this will lower the number of comments, but I am sure that the move will bring more positive & educated comments.
In the past we have had problems with ppl posting junk and non-related issues. |

I wholeheartedly agree with Jorge. 90%+ of the negative comments were coming from non-registered users and causing ZP as a whole to look bad. Making only registered users able to participate has a.) brought down the negativity substantialy, and b.) made it easy for the mods to get rid of any registered users who post nonsense or flames.
IMHO I think this was one of the best ideas to date for the news section. You have my support (if that means anything anyway :-)) |

I am very hesitant to mention this but after suffering at least 3 months of downhill sliding. I wonder if one or two hour banning might help.
I mean banning someone permanently is pointless. they can re-register. but a one or two hour ban would slow down the real negative or sensless talk. I know most frequent posters will say no way. But Jorge think about this forum. It is at a point noobies cannot ask inoncent questions and I am sure many people are just not posting because of fear of bad talking back and forth. think about it. even a 20 minute ban might help. it will allow people to seriously chill. yeah 15 or 20 minutes might be better as it's not worth making another registration then. peace |

yeah well just because the rules have change, and people have to register in order to post in the comments section, doesnt mean that people wont register. and once they do , they still can make rude or crazy comments.
well, that is the way it is, there is always going to be people to make obscene comments. that is why there is moderators to do there job and edit the news section etc. o well, that is the way it is __________________________________________ below here are links to sites u want to go to if not o well visit these other sites if u are bored and stuff all p2p related or what ever http://xs.fasthost.tv www.musicmagnet.tk www.unitethecows.com www.slyck.com www.zdnet.com www.playsite.com www.infoanarchy.org www.astavista.com www.mp3.com __________________________________________ |

I think having members-only news posts are going to discourage people from joining the site. You may think the opposite would happen, but let me explain my theory.
When I just started going to the site, I would just go post on the news boards, just to get a feel for the site and the people on ZP. Eventually I started going to the site enough that I decided to join as a member. Now, when people are going to visit ZP, they are either going to join right away, or they are going to visit once, see that everything is members-only, and say, "aah, forget it." On a broader note, it seems that ZP is becoming more and more exclusionary. We keep drawing each other tighter and tighter in, in an attempt to control everything. That's nice and all, but I believe ZP should be more inclusionary; we should be attempting to draw newbies into the site, and making the news boards members-only is not the way to do it. |

Yes but how many people are driven away by the immature flaming or bashing that mainly comes from all of the unregistered people?
Its really two sides and just like the forums i think the benefits of register only far outweighs the benefits of guest posting. |

i have to say that i do not agree with you having to be registered to comment on news articles. i do however think that to use the forums you must be a member.
what annoys me most is the 190 second post gap, which seems pretty excessive! not everyone has 3 minutes per post spare! i agree with you rickio - newbs cannot ask a normal question without getting flamed, purely for having a low number of posts. |

Welcome Tylos!
Well, as a a registered member anyway. The next time someone quotes statistics to you remember that 90% of the participants in a gang rape find it enjoyable. |
