Just download Mozilla, it has a built-in Pop-Up Stopper, The New Netscape (7.01) has one too, but I've never been a big fan of Netscape. If You don't wanna download a new broswer (or don't have the space for it) then just get EMS FreeSurfer Mk II It works with IE 5x and above, and Netscape 4.7 and above.

I agree, I have used several popup killers and popupcop is by far the best, the only thing that bothers me is that it only works with IE, and not with opera or mozilla (tho this has a built in one).

Proxomitron - December 14th, 2002, 09:27 AM

I'm a great fan of the Proxomitron, in fact I like it so much that I've given it the privilege to sit in my Startup folder. It's much more than a popup stopper, it's a proxy server sitting between your web browser and the internet. It's highly configurable, and lets you control every aspect of a web page. It lets you kill banners, Java applets, JavaScript, Flash animation, backgrounds, sounds, counters - heck, anything you want.

Webwasher is my favorite. Gives you lots of control over exactly what is filtered. It kills embedded music, animated gif's, banners, pop-ups, no-right-click scripts, all that crap. Then, I add "doubleclick.net" and "fastclick.net" to IE's restricted sites list, that kills popups on a couple of sites that won't work quite right with WebWasher. Oh, and of course I use DeadAim to kill ads on AIM, and Messenger Plus to kill ads in MSN Messenger. Byebye ads!!!

My favorate is program called "PopUp Killer". I downloaded a while back and I heard the current version is not freeware anymore.

Since its inception almost 30 years ago, the internet has been transformed from a primitive device for sharing thoughts and ideas, into a massive network where people pay to connect and read advertisements they don't want, while calling each other "asshats".

I used to use this a while ago, worked awesome for me, glad to see its still available, I know for a while they talked about getting rid of it

the one thing I didnt like, was that it blocked windows update, so I had to disable the proxy, then do update, then re-enable it

get it at http://www.proxomitron.org/

it also comes in a couple of languages :)

EDIT: I just tried the program, works great, blocked everything at ZP, took me about 15min to setup (I went through every option to see what it did and if I wanted it checked), it seems to work great, not too many conflicts so far, only my own stupidity

one other small popup killer, if you use the google toolbar, one of the expiremental features supress's javascript when leaving a page, it seems to block quite a few ads, go figure, google helped me :)

I use opera 6.05 and it gives me excellent popup control. Better than mozilla. I definitely recommend opera*

*not the latest 7 beta

I use adshield. Not only does it block most pop-ups, but if you do get a pop-up, you can manually block it out any way you wan't(by server, directory on server, etc.). It will also let you do the same for any ad banner, even some flash animations.

just use Opera. The best browser and the first that had built-in pop up stopper. Use it for speed too.

Thumbs up Pop-Up Stopper Pro v2.22 - July 21st, 2003, 08:42 AM

The best one, for me of course!... also, using the modified HOST file that you can download from Kazza lite site( http://www.k-lite.tk ) helps alot(because you can just add new sites... HOHOHOHOHOHOHO!)

Google looks to be branching out.

Mozilla does a terrific job anout eliminating pop-ups. Unlike Opera, it has no ads, is standards compliant (Supports Magnet Links), skinable, stable, fast, feature packed and open source.
