video-no fast forward?? fixable? - December 8th, 2002, 09:43 AM

I have a few downloaded vids that I'm unable to fast forward thru? No particular format as they are avi's, mpegs, and asfs? Have tried differnent extensions on each but unable to get them to FF. Any thoughts on if this is fixable?

What player do you use?
WMP does not FF, try downloading Lite Alloy, nPlayer, ...they support this feature.

Thanks for the tip on the other players, I do use wmp. I didnt really desribe my issue properly though, Instead of saying the vids dont fastforward...I should of said I cant use the drag bar to scan forward or backward within the vid. Most vids work ok just handful out of many act this way. I will try the other players though.

Ok, I have some .asf files that do the same thing...
they worked on WMP 6.4 but not on WMP 8.
They do work in the other players though.
If you have WMP 8, you also have 6.4, look in your Windows Media Player Folder for "mplayer2", and click on it, it will work.
Just make a shortcut to your desktop if you need to use it alot.
