Are linux clients clean?

Im a recent upgrader to Linux (goodbye micro$oft) and am looking for a p2p client. Are the versions of Kazaa & Audiogalaxy as spyware ridden/insecure as the Windows versions. Linux is more secure but once a program has root it can do anything.

There is NO, I repeat, NO reason why a filesharing program should be run as root. Running programs as root kind of defeats the purpose of switching to Linux when it comes to security and spyware. I would go with any open source file sharing program to be secure. Then you know that you have total control over what you install on your system. Qtella, GTK-tella, Limewire, and Freenet are a few great examples.

If it's opensource, you can look for spyware routines before use it. It's the best guaranty.
