DC++ Question - December 2nd, 2002, 07:10 PM

I can't find rare files anywhere (*snif* AG*snif*) so I'm gonna start DC++ and I have a question. Can I use MoSearch or GloSearch with DC++? Does it connect to the same hubs as DC?

What exactly are the differences between GloSearch and NeoModus DC/DC++? Which one would you recommend?

i like mosearch--it has more hublists, and a user search

nmdc is buggy and uses twice the resources of ++

gloseach/mosearch automatically open in nmdc, which pisses me off, but you can cut/paste the hub info into ++

Glosearch allows you to search all hubs without actually being connected, or being in active mode. It has more options. Mosearch also allows you to search for users, which is helpful if the user you're downloading from went offline (or to another hub). Neomodus Direct Connect is the official program for the network, while DC++ has more options (sorta like eDonkey2000 vs. eMule). DC++ also allows you to connect to more than one hub. And there is one pitiful other client for DC called mldonkey, which fakes shares (notbob's biggest enemy).

Thanks for the replies. I thought i'd phrase my question in that way to get a response that would help compare GloSearch to the two DC clients DC/DC++. I regularly use DC++ but if GloSearch can search all hubs and provide info on where the file is located and what user, then I can connect to the hub via DC++ and get the file. Very useful indeed.

Now thats a damn shame. I say, if you can't connect because you don't meet the requirements, don't go into the hub. There is no excuse for Leeching/fake sharing.

its pretty much my only requirement--share some real files, and no fakes, yet people still insist on faking

I also hate leeches but some people can't share 5 or 10 Gb that is required. (not in all hubs though)

I have never seen a 5gb fake share-- i've seen 9.31GB, 80GB, 100GB, 126GB, 4TB

people who fake do it to be assholes or leeches--not because they don't have enough files--my hub doesn't even have a minimum and people fake (why? it makes them feel important to see a high total?)

use kazaa to get 5 movies or a bunch of tv episodes or isos and you have 5 GB (go to the library and rip cd's at 320, or as shn's)

i just plug in my ipod and share whats on it. add that to movies, apps, etc. and you have a big library
