i believe you have to manually update the lists now
as far as tips one that comes to mind is to block http
some sites will not work but its better that you leave it blocked when using torrents
for more tips you can go to the pg2 forum
and be aware that pg2 only blocks all KNOWN anti p2p ip's

Make a firewall exception, gees people you should be able to diag this stuff by now.

Also, if youre using every last ounce of bandwidth on torrents with your dial up account, you prob cant expect software to update.

don't waste your time on p2p blockers. that will save you a ton of effort and troubleshooting. there is no proof that they improve safety or security to any extent. they do, however, cause lots of problems

I have mine set-up with following lists, feel free to set-up yours the same if you want.

Set These to BLOCK

Level 1 - Anti P2P -- http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/level1.zip
Level 2 - Banks & Corps -- http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/level2.gz
Spyware & Adware -- http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/spyware.gz
AD Trackers & Bad Porn -- http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/ads...nd-bad-pr0n.gz
Trojan & Port Scanners -- http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/trojan.zip
Spiders & Bots -- http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/spider.gz
Hijacked IP's -- http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/hijacked.zip
DShield - Known Hackers -- http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/dshield.gz

These List all together are currently Blocking 965498927 Bad Ip's

Make sure You Keep List updated Regular and Block Http as well.

It may seem to block too much in beginning but add IP's you feel are ok if you wish and it gets better in time, or just give IP's a temp ok pass for an Hour.

As for the comment about not bothering with IP Blockers , well that's fair comment about the proof , but i cant hurt to add this to your security arsenal

If you Found any of this helpful , pls give a REP Point :)

I disagree with the assertion that PG2 and similar have not been proven to provide a measurable degree of protection. As I recall from one ZP's news article from the Fall of 2007, 15% of the sources on P2P were agents, investigators and etc of Music Industry; however, that still is not the main issue.

The primary issue is to use any and ALL methods available to protect one's self and even if you believe such applications have not been proven to work--then one should also understand have not been disproven either. It is far better to err on the side of caution.

Speaking from personal experience. The only problems I've encountered while using Peer Guardian 2 are, the inablity to complete credit card and/or filling out forms on some SSL locations and conecting to a web cam while on IM. In both cases, exiting PG2 solved the problem.

ip blocking is meaningless, especially when it comes to torrents and your ip being displayed on a tracker. since a large percentage of p2p is bittorrent these days, the people that you are "blocking" can just pull your ip off of the website along with your ratio without ever even connecting to you

You mean without a subpoena? I thought they actually have to "exchange" material with you in order to nail you. Don't get me wrong, PG2 is a flimsy prophylactic.... but something is better that nothing at all.

their evidence is a screenshot and an ip as it is. isn't that flimsy enough?

*** you and your rep points, you havent been here long enough, stop running from thread to thread trying to suck up to everyone under your new alias.

You've posted on 3 days since you signed up, and 10 of your posts were today, so don't start trying to schmuck your way up the ladder already.

And finally, krish123 should already know that information, because I track what he does, and he particpiated in this thread - http://www.zeropaid.com/bbs/showthre...ighlight=block

where he asked the question - where do u get the lists of which ip's to block on pg2?
