First you need to learn about programming languages, and about networks. Then you need to design the interface, protocol and etc. Code it, test it, and beta tess and then release it if everything works. Of course i probably left out a few steps.

Its not a easy thing to do and yes it will cost you money because assuming you dont know any programming languages you will have to buy the books to learn, a compiler, and hosting. Not to mention itd probably be a good idea to run the whole thing by a lawyer so you dont end up getting sued.

Very well said - December 12th, 2002, 07:26 AM

Very well said Sephiroth.

Totally agree, and would like to point out most programmers out there are not going to help produce a p2p that they can create themselves and get all the credit instead of just half...the best you are going to get is a basic source code unless u offer money, paid for webspace to promote p2p or something.

Unfortunately I think you will find help from others is limited and that is because we live in a capatilistic world and not a socialistic one (and its always gonna be like that unfortunately).
But, be undeterred as you can easily get the info needed to build a p2p, it just requires time and patience. also, pleased to hear a lawyer being mention as lawsiuts seem to be over looked by many p2p developers...though if you dont have the money for lawyers there are other ways to keep RIAA off your back... a gun coming to mind as the most effective (lol, only kidding). See if AG the centralised web-based p2p had only had some developers that were handy with machine guns, lol, maybe that is KaZaA'S secret, lol...maybe not
