3.1 Question RE: Throttle Speeds - May 23rd, 2002, 11:40 AM

I just began using WinMx 3.1 using Time-Warner Cable's Road Runner service. Any thoughts on where I should set my incoming and outgoing throttle speeds? Also, I have many files that are in que mode (20 in Queue, for example) but it doesn't seem like the queue number changes or that these files eventually download. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Throttle Speeds and Ques.. - May 23rd, 2002, 03:33 PM

As far as Ques go, a lot of time users can bump ahead users (I believe) that they are currently sharing with. Also some may have a lot of slots open when you que yourself, but then restrict the number of downloads occurring at once... thus putting you further back in the line. Yeah Ques, seem to be cross your fingers and see what happens.
With the throttle speeds it is trial and error. My upload speed is 20000 and my download is unlimited. That said, when people start uploading from me I will tweak the numbers so that the uploads can occur faster. But that seems to be a good speed for me as it allows on DSL uploads to occur and at the same time my downloads can progress at a reasonable pace. A lot of time it depends on the connection of the people you are swapping files or downloading/uploading from.

I am a WinMX novice, but hopefully my last two posts have been able to help you out a little bit,

Cheers...
