BitTorrent going mainstream? -
January 22nd, 2007, 10:26 AM
The Future of BitTorrent
does anyone think its possible for bittorrent to go completely mainstream and legal? can you imagine your parents using bittorrent to download their favorite show or movie? I'm not so sure because for that to happen, people would have to start paying for a service they already get completely free....but then again who knows, if the quality and speed is good enough maybe i could cancel my cable tv subscription and only pay for bittorrent. That would at least keep me from paying for channels I'll never watch but are bundled in with the package. any opinions? |

I am a parent of four and it sort of has happened already in the UK. The pay TV operator here SKY TV uses a type of Bit Torrent client to allow users to download both films and movies. Also the government national broadcaster the BBC is planning to use Bit Torrent to allow viewers to download programmes for free. And I use Bit Torrent! :icon_comp :icon_comp :icon_comp |
