Angry Unreasonable expectations - November 5th, 2002, 03:13 AM

It really annoys me that people just expect to load up Freenet and just start sharing files. It isn't anything like Kazaa. I would really recommend you people read the paper published on Freenet. You will see that the way the network works is highly advanced.

I find that to get the best results you really need to be using it (Frost) for a least a few hours. This gives it a chance to learn and find out what content is available to it on the network. All of this information is stored locally. When you do a search you will find that it is near instant.

I myself have donated a small amount of money to the project and plan on having a Freenet server set up soon.

I'm gonna give it the nick name of Sharky.

* 512MB Ram
* 933MHz C3 processor
* 120GB Barracuda V

It'll use an offboard power supply so the thing will run completely silent. I can leave it on and get some sleep then.

But anyway. Give it some time. It will improve. It'll be your only option when you start getting cease and disist letters from the RIAA.

Did you ever set up your Freenet server?

Has Freenet download speed, reliability and useability increased in the two years since this was posted?

BTW average processor speed has increased and bandwidth has increased in that time.
