Point? - April 25th, 2002, 02:35 PM

What's the point of napster anyway? I mean it was once the king but now it's a shadow of it's former self......
Can anyone possibly see what could happen with Napster that would benefit us? No.........................

Not much chance of that happening since they got bought out by the enemy (Bertelsmann), if they do come back it probably would be paid service... :tol2

Since its inception almost 30 years ago, the internet has been transformed from a primitive device for sharing thoughts and ideas, into a massive network where people pay to connect and read advertisements they don't want, while calling each other "asshats".

Napster is DEAD, and no one will ever use their centralized server technology. Coz the second a p2p centralizes their server, it will be shut down almost immediately. Even now, Riaa is threating ( well they threat everyone... ) Kazaa for using "Supernodes" saying that using this features means them knowing where the files are, yada yada yada, but riaa doesn't know for sure how this technology works, but they still want to close all p2p comunities.

So if Napster comes back, free or pay service, it will never be the same, the only advantage it will have is the name, name is very popular coz it started everything... so maybe if their comeback is good, there will be alots alots of user ....
