winmx failed uploads - May 22nd, 2002, 05:58 AM

I have WinMX 3.1 on my computer, but even before that, with 2.6, I could download fine, but people trying to upload from me always got failures. Another problem was searching for something. I could type in something and it would find it almost immediately, then five minutes later on the same search, it would not find a thing. Does anybody know why?

Usually it's a firewall problem. If you are behind a hardware firewall such as a router or a software firewall such as Zonealarm, then you need to allow TCP port 6699 and UDP port 6257 in, because WinMX uses them.

As far as the change in searches go, that could be because the WinMX network was down when that happened.

switch connectino to secondary, in settings change incoming TCP to unable......, and IN/OUT udp to unable.....tehn restart winmx.

Has worked for alot of people, ZA seems to be the culprit alot.
