emule and edonkey are on the same network...although in my experience, emule has been faster, and over net is on a different, decentralized network.

I also use eMule, and I also think it's faster. I read somewhere it refuses connections from people with a bot. That's very good:)

in defense of edonkey...it's development will continue after overnet has stabilized...says that somewhere on the edonkey site. but yes, emule rocks.

Hey. Just a quick question. Does eMule support SOCKS 4 or SOCKS 5??? When I first tried eMule, I didn't find any config for those, so I gave up on using it. (I'm behind firewall, and I need the program to use SOCKS.) My eDonkey has been crashing a lot lately too, and believe it or not, there are many other users with the same problem. If you go check www.edonkey2000.com at their forum, you can find all sorts of possible solutions, but none of them are 100% guaranteed to fix the problem. Nevertheless, they have done all sorts of analysis for this, and it's helpful to read what people have to say about it.

Golden Tequila -
October 31st, 2002, 07:13 PM
Hey I just noticed after you mentioned it, yeah I don't see socks support in emule, but their is hope.
Go to the emule forum and their is a section where people are submitting modified versions of emule. I suggest you ask someone to impliment that feature and I am sure others would want it as well. As mentioned I am using a modified version and it is running very nicely, no crashes at all now. I had not been on edonkey forum, can you mention briefly what you learned about the crashing Golden Tequila or anyone who knows? As far a a gaurenteed solution well...switching to emule did it for me! peace! Quote:
