Looks like in gnuclues next version they will be out after reading whats on their site. As for other programs limewire has had it out for a while, Bearshare will be adding it in 3.0.0(defender).
As for the other programs i dunno.. I hope they support it. |

Just so long as they make sure that not just anybody is a Supernode. Right now most of the clients ruinning as supernodes plainly should not be.
It's degrading the client's average performance, since it's so much more likely to connect to a crap supernode than a good one. And a crap supernode will stop it connecting to anyone else, so unless you're there to disconnect manually (which I for instance am not) it'll lock you into a crappy connection and that's you done for the night. |

Hi bud, glad to see you back.
I'm on DSL, but I choose not to act as a supernode seeing as I'm not keeping gnucleus running for long periods of time - last time I tried it it didn't download jack and still brought my PC to a standstill with its resource usage. I agree that Supernodes should be on broadband, but most supernodes seem not to be at this time. The algorithm to select supernodes should be improved, and the option to connect to normal nodes only should be allowed. Right now, Supernodes are only good in theory. The real-world implementation is less than stellar, at least in glucleus' case. And seeing as the creator is doing his exams right now, we may have a wait on our hands before these issues are addressed. |

Did Gnucleus ask you which connection you use?
Limewire does, this is important to know if you can be a supernode or not! Quote:
I think I have to test Gnucleus again! Its some time ago... Morgwen |

Click Edit>Preferences>Connect, and adjust your minimum and maximum network connections. I used 1 min and 2 max for normal usage, and would up it to 3 to 5 for deeper searches. Also, you can disconnect from the network completely to speed up transfers, as the connections are only important for searches. To do this, click File>Disconnect, or hitting the red nerve cell spark thing in the toolbar. I tried other clients with my 56k, always came back to Gnucleus within a few days. |
