the tips i need is what program i should use to rip cds to the format mp3 and make sure the program is free thx

I use a freeware program called MP3 Producer, it's quick and childs play to use. I made a thread a while back...

I use AltoMP3 CD ripper. Not sure if its considered good though.

If you want to ensure a good rip, check out Exact Audio Copy and use LAME for encoding. It takes a little longer to rip, but it works great :)

EAC + LAME seconded. You can't beat it.

EAC is a little time consuming to set up initially, but after that its all of like 3 clicks to create the best MP3s you can get.

EAC is suppose to be the best.. But you should rip them as wav format and then go through and convert to mp3.

Thankyou, sir. Now part 1 and part 2 are together again. I didn't realise the original author was Chris Myden. Apologies for not attributing credit to the proper author.

I tried the method in part 2 and for some reason eac would not encode directly to mp3 only as a wav file so I would have to manually encode the wav file to mp3 with lame. I did each track individually rather than doing the group of all songs on the cd together because not every song was worth keeping.

I made a shortcut to the lame executable on my desktop with the following parameters:

right-click on the shortcut and under target put this "C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\eac-0.95b3\lame.exe --alt-preset standard" change the path to wherever the lame executable is located on ur pc then all you need to is drag and drop wav files on the lame executable and they will encode automatically with the output placed in the same folder as the original wav file was located.

All i can say about this is that it works and works well. The lame executable was able to encode properly wav's of varying mhz and or bitrates so even if you didn't have a wav encoded at 44.100 mhz or whatever its supposed to be encoded at it would encode it anyway correctly without errors.

How did you get this program for free? After I downloaded it, it said my 10 day trial period was over.

The problem is I DID CRACK myself on google, and found nothing but "bad jokes" unless the older ones work.
