What the hell did I do? - January 17th, 2006, 04:05 PM

Ok so I tried sending all my music to my Removable drive to make CD'S , well now Winamp won't play the damn things...I didn't even make any CD's yet. Just the process of sending the files did something. Now question is...how do I reverse it?:icon_scra

Move the music back to where they were, or tell Winamp to access the files from where they are now (the removable drive).

Something is wrong.

They should still be recognized by winamp.

It doesn't work when you doubleclick a mp3?

right click a mp3, click properties, then select open with winamp.

I have a feeling something else is wrong, but I can't really tell without actually looking at your computer....or a more detailed explanation of the steps you did.

I don't use winamp, but if you are trying to locate your files with winamp...winamp isn't going to know where the files are. If it works like wmp...I'm not sure as I use wmpclassic.

Here's what I did.

1. Inside my music folder : Selct All > File > Send to DVD-RW Drive....that's it, nothing was "removed" from the folder.

2. I then decided ahh nevermind, and cleared that DVD-RW Drive.

Went to listen to a song and it's like nothing happens...winamp will pull the file up but it doesn't play.

Try library -> remove missing files. Then library -> add media to library and select music folder.

Hmm.. if you right click on it in winamp and select View File Info., it will tell you where it's trying to access the file from.... is that where the file is located?.. maybe try that and report back?

Did you delete the library (*.m3u ?) first, then make a new one to point to new drive?

Are the files still there?
Have you tried reloading them as a completely new library?
When you "sent" the files to the removable drive, were they erased during the transfer? As is "relocated?

try playing them with windows media player just to make sure there is nothing wrong with the music files.
one more thing...........just use the go back option in windows to the time before everything got messed up.
