No spyware, no ads, skinnable, media player, web surfer, virus scanning, users = to that of KaZaA and Gnutella, anonymous sharing and downloading (completely anonymous) fast downloads and searches, no bandwith controls!
file resume chat hash creator a good preview option multi-network share minimum of 'x' files (nothing over the top to restirct to many users) file resume chat hash creator a good preview option multi-network share minimum of 'x' files (nothing over the top to restirct to many users) A kool GUI NO SPYWARE or ADWARE! when the DL fails from one person, you'll move on to the next... How important is SwarmLoading (DLing segments of the file from different people to speed the DL up)??? no supernodes! I would have to say that it can block out leechers fasttrackx and a feature to find a specific user, (There ain't) Ain't no place I'd rather be Chillin with homies and family In a sky high iced out paradise In the skyyyyy (There ain't) Ain't no place I'd rather be Only place that's right for me Chromed out mansion in Paradise In the skyyy ~2pac R.I.P. |

personally i couldnt care less about skins , media players, chat, virus scans or in-built coffee makers, so long as it delivers a wide selection of quality files thatll do me
oh! and doesnt try to take over half my bloody system. edit: on thinking, ONE thing i would like to see is the ability to filter out certain types of user, leeches for one (although this would be impossible) but especially people trading sick porn. also people trading junk files , and i put 96kbs in the same class as junk files. whats up with that? there may have been a call for 96kbs when bandwidth was limited and big hard drives were few and far between, but theres no need for that shit now. i hate spending weeks looking for some tasty piece of music, spying it, then realising the low bit rate makes it unlistenable. and 128kbs needs to be phased out too, its almost as bad....and anything encoded with Xing...ffs ppl use lame or fraunhofer.192kbs lame and fhg needs to be the standard in any new p2p app. so i guess this rant is my way of saying that what id like is a p2p app which accepted only high bit rate music "Talent borrows, genius steals" - Oscar Wilde |

Let's inject some sensible thinking into this thread...
"skinnable, media player, web surfer" All-in-one, resource-hogging, unnecessary bloatware!!! Surely, developers should be pushed to improve the actual filesharing experience and technology directly.. not add features for which other programs are much better and specifically designed. Making downloaded files launch in their default application is tidier, keeps MORE users happier, results in less bugs, lags in your file sharing application and less sly ways to manipulate your movement over the internet. A build in web browser can be pretty fucking dangerous too, especially in the hands of developers who opt to include spyware. Skinnability, I won't pick on so much, i know it's popular and it doesn't really interefere with the performance of the program, just the GUI on slower machines, if the skinning is a resource hog, there should be an option to exclude the skinning features. "No spyware, no ads" "anonymous sharing and downloading (completely anonymous) fast downloads and searches" you should like what Filetopia have introduced, gonna do the same with what I'm working on, using other users to bounce off. Now, this doesn't guarantee anonymity 'coz someone could intentionally put a rogue bouncer node in the network and just watch the entire transfer, but it does allow a critical shadow of doubt to be cast over all attempts by the RIAA/MPAA/etc to gain solid evidence (and makes it a lot harder for them). By using a gateway/bouncer or whatever, nobody can be sure if the IP who is transmitting the file is actually the uploader or a carrier of the data received, and of course, vice versa. The only downside, this is NOT going to be viable until broadband has REALLY taken off. And if a lot of ISPs continue to cap at 128kbps upstream, one download at 16KB/s will max out two cable users upstreams. So you might have to wait a while before that ones really practical. Fast downloads - does that mean everyone wants swarmloading??? As for the lots of users = to kazaa or gnutella... This is the biggest sticking point for developers.. by a LONG way... Okay, let's assume a new p2p app comes out with 95% of the stuff everyone wants. Everyone has a quick glance, goes.. ooohh.. no users.. i'll leave it til later.. Where do the users come from?? Just... well.. crappy thoughts really, and some clarification of what's needed to achieve what some of you are asking for and my 2 cents on bloatware of course! No Ads, in fact no graphics at all except for the logo.
No Spyware. No Media Player (Pack-In Media Players are crap). The Ability to search specifically for ISOs. Multi Source and File Resume Real Client to Client. You should be able to run this on your home or office network to share without being connected to the internet (not that you would). FastTrack Level of Scaleability...without the crap. A Minimum number of files shared (like 5 or 10). No Bloating, taking up less that 1MB in RAM. :-) I have no idea what hashing or swarm downloading is. With the increasing amount of record company meddling, a universal moderator located in a raft in international waters might be necessary to filter looped or otherwise crapified music files.
