No there arent quicklinks in winmx -

Unfortunately as far as I know there's not equivalent in Winmx for the eDonkey quicklinks.
adrian15. Here there's a method for doing the same thing as edonkey quicklinks but with files and with Morpheus http://www.geocities.com/vlaibb/ I think we could work it out something similar with incomplete downloads.txt and an incomplete file that it's the right file that we're loooking for. But I have no time to do it. If you find info, or make your hacks about it please tell me. |

The only problem with using the sig2dat quicklinks for WinMX files is that they use their own hash format, not the WinMX hash format, so they are probably better suited for P2P's that don't incorporate any file hashing.

Another way to post WinMX file links is to generate a file hash and then paste the hash number on a site. This can be done with just using WinMX, no additional application is needed to generate these links. To get the file, a user would then have to copy and paste the hash # from the website into the search box of WinMX. A little more work than clicking a link but the same results in the end.
Here, I will demonstrate: Winston Churchill Hitler The Guttersnipe HASH>ced5cb72c111f3456e4373767e1aeb9a copy and paste the above 2 lines into the 2 boxes in the WinMX search window. (or just the lower HASH>xxxxx line into the lower box also works) here's another: Martin Luther King Jr I Have A Dream HASH>c1c6fac1be3f20baa8eef485dc961525 It would be great if users would post their file hashes. This would be much better than having to search the network and ending up with fakes, misnamed or bad quality files. |

Searching by file hash not working -

I discovered that by copying a posted file hash into the search box and hitting search, few files if any are found. So this is not a reliable method to post files on a forum. The main problem is that if a file is not well distributed, searches by hash will turn up zero results.
Probably it is best to just include filesize along with the posted title. A lot more search results are usually found for that exact file by doing a general search and looking for the matching filesize. I hope FrontCode fixes this bug because use of file hashing has great potontial. |
