merge torrent files - June 9th, 2005, 02:41 PM

Hello i am new to this forum,
I have partially downloaded a torrent file twice. one is about 50% the other is about 30%. I am curious if its possible to merge the two on my computer so i can get one that is hopefully more than 50% done. I do have a network and another computer but i dont know what exaclty i am doing. if its possible to merge the two over a network, which app would be best suited to transfer.

thanks, billy.

If what you are wanting to do is take both incomplete sets, and continue them on one computer--that can be done.

In Azureus, you can go into the torrent details and see which files are completed. Compare this list on both torrents, and then close the torrent clients. You can then copy the completed files from one that have not been completed on the other from one temporary directory to the other.

After that, restart your client on the second computer and you should have at least a little bit more completed than you did before :-)

Just an FYI, after you move the completed files around, you may have to execute a "force re-check" of the hash, so the client knows what files to DL.

It becomes very complicated.

The short answer is a quiet "no".

In Azureus there is an option to "ignore LAN IPs" (I think), and it is enabled by default. But even if you disabled this option, I'm not sure if the tracker would accept/broadcast your LAN IP.
