Unregistered posts! - May 12th, 2002, 06:59 AM

I noticed that only registered members can post in the forums, but in the old ones it was possible for all! Now I want to know why this changed?

All comments are welcome! :wings

Unregistered posters in my experiance always cause alot of the problems on forums. Most either just flame and insult registered members or post comments really just to start problems.

Registering only takes a few mins, its free and IMHO if a person wants to say something and truely believes in it then there is no reason why anyone needs to hide behind some guest name to say it. So i dont really see why unregistered posting is something that is really needed. The forums are doing very well considering it was just opened a couple weeks ago.

power to the people let's start a private club - May 12th, 2002, 08:40 PM

I find the members only posts refreshing. I have already linked up with several members. I have much more of a community feel with my fellow posters. This thing feels under control, which is rare for a BB on the net.

In my experience, zeropaid is now the 4th website where I am/was a mod, unregistered members donīt make more trouble than registered members!

We have enough mods here to edit or delete such threads, what we need is a guidance, and if we see in future that unregistered "really" make more trouble we can change it back!

Stick with Registration - May 13th, 2002, 01:38 AM

Unregistered members can have their say on the news stories. I like it that everyone here has bothered to registered, and I'd like you to keep it that way.

You can let the gene out of bottle but you cant put him back... Its easy to start allowing things but it cannot be changed backed easily nor does it usually go well with people.. And i think that unregistered posters will have much more negative effects than good ones.

And I think an open and free forum should allow or have at least one section for unregistered users!

I think I will raise a poll about this!

You do not have to have unregistered posters to have an open and free forum..

Can anyone register? Yes therefore its open

Does registering cost anything? No therefore its free

People who post on a board set the tone for a board and help build a community. Unregistered posters generally aren't there to build a community, they tend to be more of a source of headaches for everyone involved.

Just 'changing it back' doesn't undo the damage of a board who's had its tone and sense of community harmed. That is alot of work.

If you don't believe me just ask around vBulletin.com.

I'm sorry I have to step in here, but orgwen, you're pushing way too hard on your point of view here. People have clearly expresed that they do not want something and yet you are still pushing for it. Give up, please. You cannot get pissed off every time someone doesn't share your opinion or accept your sugestions, you just have to live with it and move on.

There's plenty more things to debate than this, and this issue should by now be considered closed. I guess if you've left as you said in your other thread then you wont be reading this, but if I'm not mistaken you do have a tendency to say you're leaving only to pop up a few weeks later. So I'm guessing you'll be lurking hre for a while.

Learn and live, live and learn. And for god's sake, Take It Easy, my man!
