Help with warcraft3

i don't if this is the right place for this thread but here goes anyway


i have warcraft 3 TFT patched 1.17
i have the game but not the cds i run a cracked version ,,, i have warcraft3 cdkeys so i can play online
but in the last 10 days or so blizzard updated wc to patch 1.18 when i try to install the patch it says can't find reg key for installation path
now i own the game but i just don't have the cds or images of the cds to reinstall the game

my question is ,, is there a way to update it to patch 1.18 without reinstalling the god damn game

You say you run a cracked version. And you want an update. That makes this against ZP rules.

well a no cd crack Isn't that harmful if you own the game. So I am reopening this. I don't think I understand why you'd have to reinstall to patch the game...

why don' you just make a cd image of the game and then mount it with daemon tools.

its because i installed WC3 on my computer and then had to delete windows and reinstall it again ,,, bbut at the time i only transfered the game files from C;\program files to d:\ drive to format and reinstall windows
thats why it says i have to reinstall WC3


i guess i am gonna have to find someone who has the cdss for it and either copy them or makes images

well yeah... windows throws everything into the registry. If you try to run it from a folder you backed up, it'll never work.

/me wonders how it is that you own the game, yet you don't have access to the disk(s).

intstalling from the disks, or borrowing someone elses, is the only option methinks.

If you followed the instructions that came with your crack, you should have made backup copies of the original files. -Not a smartbutt comment, just a reminder to all!
Not much you can do without getting copies of the originals. If i were you I'd try a good Warcraft 3 site someone might be able to provide you with these two files. Make sure they are the correct version as the updater does a CRC check for the correct files (hence your current problem). There are two, ones war3.exe & I forget the others name, but it is the other exe file in the program folder and has a blank icon.

btw: provided you legitimately purchased your copy someone "providing" those file should not be a legal issue.

Might try this though, but seeing as you are missing reg entrees it is likely you will be forced to reinstall. While I love to blame microshaft as much as the next guy this is actually the fault/intention of a software developer.

well i own the game but the disks got totaled one drunken night

anyway i was able to get the Wc 3 ROC iso(no expansion) so what i did is i installed the game in the program fiiles folder then i moved my backup Wc3 TFT(expansion) to that folder and had only to apply 1 patch to get the game working :)
all i needed were reg keys pointing the updater to where the files are(stupid i think)

you own the game? prove you didn't download it off edonkey, direct connect or bittorent because that's how you get the .iso format

Since i use no-cds because its a waste of time finding my LEGAL cd and putting it in ill tell you how i got mine to work.
1. I patched it with an old no cd.
2. I updated game.
3. I got a no-cd in patched files.
Only use a nocd if you actually OWN the game, otherwise that is piracy and is prohibited by U.S. and international law... blah blah blah you get the point.

Hi guys, it seems a lot of people have the same problem as me. I lost my CD (though I still have the casing, with the CD-KEY) one night while lanning and have never been able to find it. I am extremely pissed as it cost me NZ$80, and another NZ$60 for the expansion (which I still have, thankfully) that I bought from a Harvey Norman store. I was forced to DL a no-cd crack very reluctantly. I have avoided doing so in the past despite the convenience it provided (no cd-swapping) because it felt illegal. Ever since that incident, I have also avoided reformatting my computer due to it being a hassle to work around having no CD.

I made the mistake of replacing my war3.exe with no backup and now that the new patch is out, I am unable to install the update and despite reading the previous post, I still have not got it to work. Freaky, what do you mean by "an old no-cd"? Please explain thoroughly as I am a newbie with cracks. Oryx, what exactly is an iso and where do you get it? Is it just the 800mb game file?

Guys, any help would be appreciated. Please help a newbie in need. Thanks in advance.
