Question behind router :( - September 22nd, 2002, 10:13 AM

hey all I need some help!

Im behind a router but I have full access to it so no problem there. My problem is that when i search for files i cannot download from some users "due to a firewall" I dont have a firewall or any proxy!!! Im only having a router.
So do any of you know have I can download from all users ??

Some specifics like what p2p program r u referring to might help others help u. Most likely u need to map the proper ports through your router....

Specifically what ports depends on what prog.

the most likely reason is because, being behind a router... you'd have to connect to a network passively (unless u setup port forwarding on the router!!)

if two users connect passively, they can't push data to each other on some network.. and thus.. the firewall message!

It's worth knowing the application ur using. - I bet if u don't set port forwarding up, you can't use Blubster due to the UDP protocols for instance!!

Well i forgot to tell that it is kazaa Im having trouble with. I read somewhere that kazaa is using port 1214 but forwarding that port didn't help.

My network setup is just 2 computers connected with a switch behind a router.

Dont no if I can tell u more!
