Yes, there is a cydoor banner on the sidebar of the site. It's not a real problem to me, because it's there to advertise to guys creating clients a way to make money from their clients.
Now, how often do you think programmers cruise the site, hoping to find a way to add spyware and/or adware to their clients? Well, never. So it's basically free money for the site. However, I would like to see the ZP crew explain the whole StreamOg thing. When you asked him directly if he worked for ZP, he said flat out No. That bugs me. The other thing that bugs me is that he suggested we should all accept the idea that p2p is about to die. I disagree. I would like to see some member of the staff address this. It has been on a lot of people's minds, and I'd rather see it explained and have it be over. The next time someone quotes statistics to you remember that 90% of the participants in a gang rape find it enjoyable. |

I couldnt really care about the cydoor banner either, zeropaid can get their advertising revenue any way they desire- just rest assured that I wont be clicking that banner anytime soon. and Im with cheapprick on this one as well... whats more on my mind is what that whole situation with streamOG was about- and if he was taking action for himself or for zeropaid. No one has yet addressed anyone who has brought this up and I wonder why this is so. I choose to believe the admins just havent noticed that thread yet and eventually will explain what the deal was with that.

zeropaid is showing their dis-connect with their audience. either they don't care that they're antagonizing their core users, or they get off on it. between the WMP9 announcement, StreamOG's thread and now the Cydoor ad, its pretty clear what the intention is: they're trying to find a way to milk the p2p community. its sheer yuppie arrogance. I urge Jorge, StreamOG and dubstyle to defend their position.

Really if there was a memership where you had to pay for ads i bet not one person complaining here would pay for it they would try anything to use it for free though.. For a while many have seen Zeropaid for a hang out for little young teenage idiots who dont know jack about P2P, want to pirate everything and just dont seem to get it. If by disconnecting you mean from the group that i just mentioned then i think it will be a good thing. |

And I agree with you as to the object of this site sephiroth, however, I am interested to hear how you believe the whole streamOG situation fits in to zeropaid's purpose of being a filesharing and information portal.... And was he representing his own opinion or that of zeropaid? either way, he tried to mislead us, as I said in the other thread: I do not question his credibility, just his idea of how his intelligence relates to that of the users of this site. In other words, we (nearly all of us members here) are not stupid people- and therefore shouldnt be treated like a bull being led around by the nose. Do you think I am wrong about this? If this is a discussion site- dealing with p2p and filesharing- how come no mods or admins want to discusss this particular topic anymore? It just seems quite odd to me that this should be so.... -Oscar Wilde ZeroPaid UD homepage |

It's probably not fair to ask Sephiroth his opinion on that thread. Not one of the site's mods even ventured an opinion on the topic at the time. Take that to mean what you will, but certainly they didn't engage in anything underhanded.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Jorge did either. However, the only person from the admin's that did post a response was Jorge. He appeared to give the idea a little credibility, which if he had never met StreamOg was fine. It's strange though, that if you read it through, he does reply like he has never spoke to StreamOg in his life. That's the deception. I had clicked on Mr. Levi name at the time. It was when Evilmegaman had asked if StreamOg worked for Zeropaid. I looked through all of the site's mods and admins profiles to try and find what he was talking about. Yes, clicking on Levi's name does bring up StreamOg's profile. I thought it strange at the time, but decided that the site probably was trying to find new ways to make money. No harm there. I did decide to pick up a little of the cheap shots though. I mean, what's the sense of only living up to half of my nick? I don't get the silence though. What's to gain? Or is it a matter of being afraid to alienate more people? Just saying yeah, we thought we had found, or have found a way to make some dough would be enough. Its not different than those programs that you run and view ads they pay your money ideas.. Although it was a new approach to how P2P and file sharing could be used in a different way than they traditional are.. It will be interesting to see if it can actually exist more than in a forum thread.. As for news screw ups yeah many things have been posted as news that i think probably shouldnt have been but with how things are set up im not that surprized by it or anything. The news thread which posted to the streamog if i remembered it right i thought was just a pointer to the forum and ws focused more on what they are wanting to do with p2p than them. Thats what i thought of it and didnt give it much attention.. |

interesting how Sephiroth dives in (with an unusually incoherent post) to defend the purpose and honor of Zeropaid. Seph, you're a useful and intelligent mod, and a valued contributor here, but there are a lot of people on this site who _are_ "fight the power" types. The challenge was thrown down to the Zeropaid Crew, who are curiously silent on these kinds of threads.
and what exactly do you mean by "Really if there was a memership where you had to pay for ads i bet not one person complaining here would pay for it they would try anything to use it for free though.." I can't make heads or tails out of that statement....pay for ads???? |
