Anyone have any idea as to how much longer it will be before US ISP's start to adopt IPV6?

NTT Docomo has started field trials, and J-phone has announced that services using IPv6 will start as early as 2003. So I'm guessing it'll kick off sometime through 2003 however, 90% of sites i've seen have just said "soon" and that's about it!!

IPv5 never existed. The version number "5" in the IP
header was assigned to identify packets carrying an experimental non-IP real-time stream protocol called ST IP V5 was reserved for ST-2 - Stream protocol version 2 designed to control the data flow. It was abandoned for RSVP. My hope with IPV6 is that because there will be so many more ip address available, that end users will be able to have more then one static ip address at home without paying extra on DSL and Cable connections. Currently, Earthlink Cable (and all other cable providers in my area) don't allow static IP's unless you upgrade to business class. I'm thinking it's probably because there's not enough ipv4 addresses to go around. That and the ISP's are trying to make extra cash.
