uhh.... 320gigs, anyone? anyone? - September 10th, 2002, 12:08 PM

maxtors new hd is out, 3 80 gig platters, 5400rpm, $400 bucks. 250gig, 7200rpm solutions are cheaper.... this should start a price war with them and WD now I hope.... hmm.... maybe that terabyte raid array is a viable future possibility for me now :fire

yeah... - September 10th, 2002, 12:51 PM

my multiplication was horrible, no doubt. truthfully I was a bit too excited to even bother to do it in my head. theres just something about the idea of having that much space that makes me smile.

is it just me in the southern us or there hasnt been any good deals in the "category buster" retail segment.. ie, bestbuy, brandsmart, compusa??

i usually by most of my pc parts online, but for the past year, ive noticed gracious mail-in rebate discounts. ie: 100 gig 7200 WD hd New/in box, etc for $100... too bad ive missed them.

now when i need to buy, no promotions?? with the current economy and the release of super-capacity hds, 100 -120 gigs hds should be at more affordable prices, right?

quality no doubt.... - October 10th, 2002, 08:48 PM

especially when it comes to so important a component. Id be pissed if I lost a single drive in a raid 0 array.... though I think I wouldnt use 0 anyways. in fact, quality is the reason I didnt do it a few years back when I had some extra cash, I have heard nothing good about ide raid and scsi drives are just so darn expensive...
