No one seems to post full albums on Kazaa or WinMX. I wish they did.

I would try and find a hub in DC that's dedicated to it.

One option for sharing full albums is AlbumWrap. It "wraps" multiple MP3s into one big MP3. Using a separate program, you can extract the MP3 back into its individual files. The extractor is free, but the wrapper is not (unless you know how to use file sharing, wink, wink). Search for "albw" on WinMX and you should get loads of hits.

One problem is that if people change the ID3 tag, it can screw up the file, and it will play, but not extract.

Another problem with AlbumWrap is that it can only include MP3s, so your JPGs can not be wrapped in with the MP3s. I guess you could try zipping all the files together and then titling it after the album, but I'm not sure how many people do that. Once I found an album titled "artists - album title.zip.mp3"; so titled because it will show up on searches for MP3s, but is actually a zip file containing all the MP3s.

Hope this helps.

Can you provide more details, I can't see that hub in my public list.

How about an IP address or a link to zeropaid post or something.

Full Albums - September 6th, 2002, 05:45 PM

Everyone knows there are only one or two tracks on an album that are any good.

Unless it's a "best of".

I want to browse through some albums.

I need some hubs.

I tried to join Nazi cmyden's hub, but he's too busy beating up people that use Audio Grabber, or encode at 128KB/S.

You had to take a test to get in. LOL

Total obsessive.

http://www.ChrisMyden.com should give you a certificate. LOL

No, that is not true at all. An album that is good will have every nearly every single song be high quality. Take all the classics... Led Zeppelin I-IV, Metallica - Master of Puppets, Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon, Van Halen, AC/DC - Back In Black... all of those CDs had NO filler. I can think of a thousand more, but I won't. The point is, that if there are only one or two tracks on an album that are good, then the album itself is not good. I mean, come on, EVERY album has a single.

tons of good albums - September 6th, 2002, 08:35 PM

yeah I agree, their are tons of good albums.

But!!!!
it also is a trend for albums to not be as good as say 10 years ago. It is sad but true, quality is going down.
I don't think it is because of lack of talent. I think it is lack of responsible and good business practices by major record labels.
They complain the industry is going down, but this comment about bad albums is so common and they don't get the hint.
They are selling crap and then wonder why we don't buy.

I think any avid music fan would agree that there is something wrong with the music industry today.

Basicly you need music lovers who are business men to run a successful music company. I doubt that is what the case is now. We got greedy nerds trying to sell music. How else can you explain backstreet boys and britney.

sorry fans of those ehem music artists.

peace!

That IP - September 7th, 2002, 12:19 PM

macazar88, that hub IP is just a general hub and not one for albums.

What's more it's Italian.

Thanks Manster. Yeah, I know 'bout DC. I wanted an IP of an album sharing hub though.

When I find a good band that I like that doesn't put out filler, just good quality music, I buy the cd and wait for the next one. and If I really like them i'll go the thier show when they come to town. I call being a fan. The RIAA calls it "being a sheep". to everyone else its band loyalty.

Indie Music You Need NOW: Bright Eyes, British Sea Power, Calla, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Interpol, Low, The Libertines, Cat Power, Squarepusher, The Coral, Desaparecidos, The Decemberists
no RIAA, Guaranteed!
