PGP, and PGP Disk

www.pgpi.org

I seriosuly doubt someone would start arguing that something else is better, but I could be wrong.

Here's a direct link to PGPfreeware 6.0.2i.

http://www.pgpi.org/cgi/download.cgi...eeware602i.exe

edit: To clarify, PGP disk was included with the freeware version up until 6.0.2i, and thats why I linked to 6.0.2i. If you are the type of person who needs the newest software and nothing less... PGP8 will cost you a pretty penny.

I completely agree with Malakai1911 in his choices. I've tried other programs and have been dissappointed with the results in the past. PGP is the best I've found so far.

How's about them apples?

if you have XP pro, you can use disk encryption on that too. It's only good if your HD got stolen and they tried to read raw data though...

There are plenty of good progs for individual files - Iron key makes self extracting password protected executables, 7zip can zip programs with passwords (the zipping is a form of mild encryption), I've got a program called AE Crypto that does a nice job, and of course PGP, but I think it costs money for the email and disk versions.

I use PGP.. although not often. I don't really have much to hide, except for many GB of data :)

But yes, PGP is undeniable as the best encryption tool you'll ever find.

My current setup stats (like anyone cares...):

ASUS A8N32-SLI Motherboard
AMD 4400+ Dual-Core CPU
Windows Vista (Ultimate 32bit)
2 GB (2x1GB) Corsair XMS RAM
2x250 GB (in RAID 0) HDDs
EVGA GeForce 7950 GTX 512 MB
Creative X-FI Fatal1ty XtremeGamer

Also sporting a black MacBook
Revision/Release 1
Upgraded to 2GB RAM.
